The Elder Scissor Knight’s eyeless face is a masterwork organ of smell. Urged by the irritating prickle picked up by the antennae on its crown, it sniffs out the cause of the itch under the surface of the water. Often found growing in the limbic centers of the brain, the Elder Scissor Knight dredges the water for the water-logged corpses of survivors, excising the source of the contagion, leaving the headless corpses of the dead floating on the surface and eating the malignant heads.
